Sick Profits: Video Contest Guidelines and Terms

Create a short video under one minute (1 mn.) in length and submit it through http://youtube.com/group/sickprofits to the Sick Profits Video Contest. Your videos will help build a national campaign to win quality, affordable health care for everybody in the country. Your video can be live action or animation. Just make sure it provides a parody of the health insurance industry. Some themes:

To be eligible, all videos must be posted on http://youtube.com/group/sickprofits by May 31, 2008. Send your full name, contact information, and the name of your video to julie(at)nwfco.org. Contestants who submit videos accepted into the final round will be notified by June 15, 2008. For continued eligibility, final round contestants may be asked to attach the contest-related logo and URL to the end of the video.

Criteria & Prize

The winner will be selected by the staff of the Northwest Federation of Community Organizations (with no right of appeal) and announced on the Sick Profits website and through other means. The winning video, as well as runners up, will be posted elsewhere on YouTube and other video-sharing sites, with links appearing on the Sick Profits website, and may be distributed to health rights organizations across the United States. The winning contestant will receive $1,000 from the Northwest Federation of Community Organizations.

We reserve the right to remove from the contest videos that contain defamatory or obscene content or that invade the privacy of third parties or that contain racially, ethnically, or otherwise objectionable content according to the sole opinion of staff of the Northwest Federation of Community Organizations.

Eligibility

The Sick Profits Video Contest ("Contest") is open only to individuals who are residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia, who are 18 years of age or older, and who have a valid user account with YouTube. The following individuals are not eligible: employees, contractors, directors and officers of the Northwest Federation of Community Organizations ("Sponsor"), Google, Inc., YouTube, LLC and each of their respective parent, subsidiaries and affiliated companies, distributors, web design, advertising, fulfillment, judging and Contest agencies involved in the administration, development, fulfillment and execution of this Contest (collectively, "Contest Parties"), and the immediate family members (spouse, parent, child, sibling and spouse or "step" of each) and those living in the same households of each such individual.

Warranties and Representations

By submitting your video, you are promising that you own all rights to all material in your video, including the music, images, script, and rights to include all persons, places or organizations included or depicted. You shall be solely responsible for your own video and the consequences of posting or publishing them. In connection with your video submission, you affirm, represent, and/or warrant that: you own or have the necessary licenses, rights, consents, and permissions to use and authorize the Northwest Federation of Community Organizations to use all patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright or other proprietary rights in and to any and all video submissions to enable inclusion and use of the video submission in the manner contemplated by the contest and these terms.

You further agree that you will not submit material that is copyrighted, protected by trade secret or otherwise subject to third party proprietary rights, including privacy and publicity rights, unless you are the owner of such rights or have permission from their rightful owner to post the material and to grant the Northwest Federation of Community Organizations all of the license rights granted herein.

Include your name, year and copyright on your work, as you will retain all ownership rights to your entries. While you maintain distribution rights, by submitting your video to the Sick Profits project of the Northwest Federation of Community Organizations, you grant a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicenseable and transferable license to use, reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of, display, and perform the video for non-profit use. You also agree to allow the Northwest Federation of Community Organizations to use your name, or your organization´s name, identification, and likeness to use, promote or publicize your video in any manner, without limitation, and without compensation. You agree to indemnify the Northwest Federation of Community Organizations, including for legal costs, against any challenges to the ownership, use of, or rights to material in your video or any other claim based, in whole or in part, on the content of the video. Contest is void where prohibited by law.
